After winning the open seat in the April election, Milwaukee County Judge Janet Protasiewicz took her spot on the court on Aug. 1. The left-wing justice’s election swings the court dramatically from right-leaning to the left.

A justice on the Wisconsin Supreme Court will earn an annual salary of about $185,000 in 2023, more than any other elected official in Wisconsin state government, including the governor, who will earn an annual salary of about $166,000 in 2023.
